Operation Sindoor: India’s Response To Terror Attack

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, as India’s response to the Pahalgam attack. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Indian authorities stated that the strikes were focused and aimed at eliminating terror networks. The action was followed by several days of military exchanges between India and Pakistan before both sides agreed to a ceasefire on May 10.

Meaning Behind The Name Operation Sindoor

The operation was named “Sindoor” as a tribute to the families of those affected by the attack, particularly the widows of victims. The name reflected the emotional significance of the tragedy and India’s stated policy of taking firm action against terrorism.

The official recognition of the six personnel marks a tribute to their courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.
