New Delhi: Parliament saw another stormy session on Tuesday as Opposition planned to continue demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's statement over the issue of Ram Temple donation theft. The Opposition members, who were contemplating to stage a protest at Makar Dwar (outside the Parliament), were met with NDA's march attacking it for disrupting House proceedings.
The NDA also hit out at Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over action during Jharkhand student protests. In fact, when the Lok Sabha met in the morning, both NDA and Opposition were on their feet accusing each other. However, the Opposition trooped to the well of the House carrying placards and slogans, which resulted in the House being adjourned till 2 pm, within four minutes after house met.
In both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition continued to raise slogans seeking the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the House. In Rajya Sabha, Chairman CP Radhakrishnan tried to run the House, but the Opposition was aggressive in the well of the House, which forced the Chair to adjourn till 12 noon and later again adjourn to 2 pm.
The Opposition MPs reiterated their demand for Home Minister's statement on police action on students. The government on Monday offered debate on students' issues and police action in Parliament with Amit Shah's reply. The Opposition insisted on specific responses and a second debate on the Ram Temple donation theft. However, the government did not agree on Ram Temple. So the present stalemate continues.
The ongoing Monsoon Session has been largely washed out over the past two weeks. With only two days left in the Monsoon Session 2026, the government also faces uncertainty over key proposed legislation concerning women's reservation, delimitation and amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). None of these bills are listed for business either in the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha today.
