New Delhi: 71 individuals are being honored with Padma Awards by the President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan for their remarkable contribution and work in different fields. This includes 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Vibhushan and 57 Padma Shri.
Apart from the President, the Padma Awards distribution ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President, Home Minister, many eminent politicians, dignitaries and guests.
Padma awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day (26 January). This time, 139 personalities have been announced to be given Padma awards, which will be given in two phases.
In the first phase, 71 personalities out of 139 personalities are being honored today. In the second phase, the remaining 68 Padma winners will be honored next month.
This time 23 women in the list of Padma awardees. Apart from these, 10 foreigners, NRI, PIO, OCI category persons are included.
This year 13 persons are being awarded Padma award posthumously, which includes the names of Bhojpuri singer Sharda Sinha, Osamu Suzuki of Suzuki Company, Manohar Joshi.
