Winter Session to discuss Vande Mataram on 8th Dec
New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the Lok Sabha will discuss the 150th anniversary of the national song "Vande Mataram" on Monday and electoral reforms on Tuesday.
The decision was made following an all-party meeting chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
Kiren Rijiju said in a post on Instagram, "During the all-party meeting chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha today, it has been decided to hold a discussion on the 150th anniversary of the national song "Vande Mataram" in the Lok Sabha on Monday, December 8th, at 12 noon, and on electoral reforms on Tuesday, December 9th, at 12 noon."
During the All-Party Meeting chaired by Hon'ble Speaker Lok Sabha today, it has been decided to hold a discussion in Lok Sabha on the 150th Anniversary of the National Song 'Vande Mataram' from 12 Noon on Monday, December 8th, and a discussion on Election Reforms from 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 9th.
Discussion on 'Vande Mataram' on December 8th
The Business Advisory Council meeting decided that a detailed discussion on 'Vande Mataram' will be held in the Lok Sabha on December 8th. A 10-hour time slot has been set aside for this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this historic discussion. It is expected that this debate will discuss the history, significance, and role of the national anthem in modern India.
Consensus to conduct the session without interruptions
There has also been consensus to conduct the proceedings in the Lok Sabha without interruptions starting tomorrow during the Winter Session of Parliament. This decision was taken at a meeting of floor leaders held in the room of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. During this period, several parties agreed to keep the House proceedings regular and focused on serious issues.
Electoral Reforms Discussion on December 9th and 10th
It was also decided that a discussion on electoral reforms will be held on December 9th, with a 10-hour time slot. Both the government and the opposition will present their views on this matter. After the discussion is complete, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will respond on behalf of the government on December 10th.

The Winter Session of Parliament, which will begin on December 1st and continue until December 19th, will consist of 15 sittings. The first two days of the Lok Sabha have been marred by uproar.
