New Delhi: The Centre has rejected reports claiming that Elon Musk participated in a recent phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, stating that the discussion was strictly between the two leaders.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said the call held on March 24 involved only PM Modi and Trump, dismissing media reports suggesting otherwise.

The clarification came after a report cited unnamed US officials claiming that Musk had joined the high-level conversation during the ongoing tensions linked to the Iran conflict.
Responding to the claims, the MEA reiterated that the interaction was a bilateral exchange focused on developments in West Asia and did not include any private individuals.
The call marked the first interaction between the two leaders since the escalation of hostilities involving Iran following military strikes earlier this year.
According to official statements, both sides discussed the evolving situation in the region and shared concerns over stability and security.
Prime Minister Modi later described the exchange as “useful,” underlining India’s consistent position in favour of de-escalation and early restoration of peace.
A key issue during the discussion was the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy corridor.
India emphasised that the waterway must remain open, secure and accessible, given its importance for global trade and energy supplies. Any disruption, officials noted, could have far-reaching economic consequences.
The near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz has already affected global markets, pushing up oil prices and raising concerns about supply disruptions, particularly in Asia.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts continue, with the United States expressing hope for potential talks with Iran in the coming days.
The government’s statement is seen as an effort to counter speculation surrounding the reported involvement of private individuals in sensitive diplomatic engagements.
Officials stressed that such high-level communications remain strictly confined to government representatives.
