New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said those who undermine the country’s honour stand against the nation, as he called for unity and self-reliance while addressing Dussehra celebrations in Delhi.
Speaking at the Vijayadashami event at IP Extension Utsav Ground in New Delhi, PM Modi said the festival symbolised the victory of good over evil and reflected the enduring strength of truth and righteousness. He also highlighted the importance of Lord Rama’s ideals in public life and governance.
Extending his greetings on Vijayadashami, the Prime Minister said keeping Lord Rama’s ideals alive was more than a festival tradition, describing it as a guiding force for millions of Indians. He said the principles associated with Ram Rajya offered a model for good governance.
“Ram Rajya means a form of governance where no one faces discrimination, everyone receives justice, all have equal opportunities, and the purpose of power is not to rule but to work for public welfare. This is the ideal of Lord Rama. Therefore, we must always regard the people as Janardan (a manifestation of God) and move forward with the principle of Nagrik Devo Bhava (every citizen is divine)," he said.
Modi also said India was reclaiming its identity and heritage after centuries of foreign invasion and plunder. He urged people to work collectively to protect the country’s interests and strengthen its foundations.
The Prime Minister said the welfare of poor and disadvantaged sections remained a key government priority. He called on Indians to contribute to the well-being of all sections of society through collective effort, without depending on outside assistance.
Emphasising confidence in the country’s own capabilities, Modi urged people to turn their resolve into action and find solutions through hard work.
“We must have faith in our resources. We must turn our resolve into power and find solutions through our own hard work."
