New Delhi: Narendra Modi, while giving a big statement on the occasion of BJP's foundation day, said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and 'One Nation, One Election' are still incomplete agendas of the party. He said that serious and positive discussions are going on in the country on both these issues and the government is moving in the right direction, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

What is UCC and why is it in discussion?

Uniform Civil Code (UCC) means that uniform law applies to all citizens of the country, especially in matters like marriage, divorce, adoption and property.

Currently, different personal laws are applicable for different religions. With the implementation of UCC, uniform rules will be created for everyone, which is said to promote equality and justice.

What is ‘One Nation, One Election’?

‘One Nation, One Election’ means that Lok Sabha and all state assembly elections should be held simultaneously. This will reduce the need for frequent elections, reduce government expenditure and also reduce hindrances in administrative work. However, there are many political and constitutional challenges regarding its implementation.

Targeted the opposition

Prime Minister Modi also targeted the Indian National Congress, saying that BJP workers have faced many difficulties, especially during The Emergency. He also said that political violence has become a culture in some states like West Bengal and Kerala, where BJP workers have suffered losses.

Mention of BJP's achievements

In his speech, the Prime Minister mentioned many major decisions of the government, such as:

  • Law on triple talaq
  • Citizenship Amendment Act
  • Ram temple construction in Ayodhya
  • New parliament building
  • 10% Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in General Category

He said that all these works are the result of BJP's policies and hard work. PM Modi made it clear that the party's mission is not over yet. The government is continuously working to implement major reforms like UCC and ‘One Nation, One Election’ and concrete steps can be taken on these in the coming time.
