Prime Minister Modi said in his speech, "Chief Minister Vijayan is also present here, who is a major pillar of the India Alliance. Shashi Tharoor is also present here. Today's event will not let many people sleep.
The message has reached where it had to go." He further said, "Today is the birth anniversary of Adi Shankaracharya ji. Three years ago in September, I got the opportunity to visit his birthplace area. Adi Shankaracharya ji awakened the national consciousness by setting up monasteries in different parts of the country after leaving Kerala. I salute him."
Prime Minister Modi also took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi without taking his name. Referring to Gautam Adani, he said, "Gautam Adani was also present here. Adani has built a good port here; even in Gujarat, such a good port was not built."
Vizhinjam port has been built at a cost of about Rs 8800 crore. In the coming time, its transshipment hub capacity will be tripled. We designed it with large cargo ships in mind.
PM Modi said, "Till now 75% of India's transshipment activities used to take place at foreign ports, due to which the country had to suffer huge revenue loss.
But now this situation is going to change. The money that was earlier spent abroad will now be used in the development of the country, which will create new economic opportunities for the residents of Vizhinjam and Kerala."
This project will not only lead to the economic development of Kerala, but it will also establish India as an important link in global trade. The Prime Minister stressed that this port will promote the self-reliance of the country and create new employment opportunities.
He said that the development of such infrastructure will give impetus to India's economy, and the country's goods will not be dependent on foreign ports.
Addressing the people present at the event, PM Modi said that this project realizes the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.' He said that the government's goal is to bring the light of development to every corner of India, and no region should be left behind.
Vizhinjam port is an important step in this direction, which will give a new identity to Kerala and provide new energy to the country's maritime trade.
