PM Modi will be chair India AI Summit
New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday made a key announcement regarding the India AI Summit 2026 during a press briefing at the AI Impact Summit 2026.
Vaishnaw said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the India AI Summit 2026 on 19 February, which is expected to witness participation from international representatives, senior ministers, and leading CEOs from across the globe. A high-level roundtable discussion involving key stakeholders will also be organised on the same day.
The Union Minister further revealed that several artificial intelligence models have already been demonstrated to Prime Minister Modi and will be formally showcased during the upcoming summit.
Highlighting India’s efforts to strengthen its AI ecosystem, Vaishnaw said the country currently has around 300 AI and IT-focused laboratories where students are engaged in chip design and development.
He added that the government plans to expand this network to 500 universities, aiming to train students at scale and build a robust talent pipeline for the AI sector.
