PM Modi to Unveil Noida International Airport
Noida: A major chapter in the country's aviation sector is set to be added today when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Noida International Airport. This airport is expected to elevate the connectivity of Delhi-NCR to new heights. Before the inauguration, PM Modi described it as a major step towards the region's development and trade on social media.
The Prime Minister stated that this airport will not only provide better facilities to passengers but will also become a major hub for import and export. Noida International Airport has been developed as a greenfield project, which will also reduce the increasing pressure on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The foundation stone of this airport was laid on November 25, 2021, nearly four and a half years ago. Now, its first phase is complete at a cost of approximately ₹11,200 crore. This project has been a long-standing demand of the region, and its completion will directly benefit millions of people.
The dream of Noida Airport was first conceived in 2001, when Rajnath Singh was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The project was subsequently stalled for several years due to various reasons. Finally, in 2019, the project gained momentum and has now become a reality.
This airport is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and facilities. It will offer DigiYatra, a biometric system, a multi-modal cargo hub, and digital passenger services. The cargo hub, spread over 80 acres, will simplify logistics for industries and create new employment opportunities.
Several international companies, including Zurich Airport International AG of Switzerland, have participated in this project. Tata Projects Limited played a key role in the construction work. Agreements have also been signed with airlines like IndiGo and Akasa.
The opening of Noida International Airport is expected to increase investment in the Yamuna Expressway region. This project is being considered a major achievement not only for Uttar Pradesh but for the entire country, which is a symbol of India's growing infrastructure and economic development.
