New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday commemorated the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, describing it as a symbol of India’s determined stand against terrorism and its commitment to national security. The military operation was carried out on May 7, 2025, following the terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, 2025, in which civilians were targeted.

India had launched military strikes on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of the operation. The strikes were presented as a direct response to the terror attack and aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure across the border.

PM Praises Armed Forces for Courage and Precision

In a post shared on social media platform X, PM Modi paid tribute to the Indian armed forces and praised their role during the operation.

“A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during Operation Sindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour,” the Prime Minister wrote.

He further said that the operation reflected the professionalism and preparedness of the armed forces. According to him, it also demonstrated strong coordination between different wings of the military and highlighted the benefits of India’s growing focus on defence self-reliance.

Focus on National Security and Self-Reliance

PM Modi stated that India remains firm in its mission to eliminate terrorism and dismantle networks that support such activities. He underlined that strengthening domestic defence capabilities has played a major role in enhancing national security.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came amid renewed discussions on India’s security preparedness and military coordination following Operation Sindoor.

Social Media Display Picture Changed

To mark the occasion, PM Modi also changed the profile pictures across his social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp channels. The new image features the words “Operation Sindoor” against a black background along with the Indian tricolour. One of the letters in the word “Sindoor” is highlighted with vermilion, symbolising the operation’s name and significance.
