Pralhad Joshi
New Delhi: Pralhad Joshi, BJP MP from Dharwad, Karnataka, has been given an additional charge as Education Minister. He also has the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy in his portfolio since 2024. Joshi has been elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024.
Pralhad Joshi has been assigned the additional charge of the Ministry of Education, alongside his existing portfolios of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy. He will now oversee four key ministries in the Union Government.

Joshi has also served as state president for the Karnataka BJP. He was appointed as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Mines in 2019, whereas in 2024 he was given charge of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
He is a prominent and trusted face of the BJP, and after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan under pressure and protest from students against the NEET UG Paper leak, the Modi government has given him the ministry at this crucial time. Before his appointment earlier today, he posted in support of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after his resignation, telling his achievements as Education Minister of India. He posted, "Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji has had an illustrious political career spanning decades. His commitment to the development of the Nation will always be remembered. His tenure witnessed the successful implementation of NEP 2020 along with over 100 big and small reforms in the field of education. Placing larger interest above everything else, Shri Pradhan Ji's decision to step down does not in anyway stop in him contributing to the Nation development."
