New Delhi: Raghav Chadha has now been provided with new security cover by the Central Government. Previously, the Punjab government had withdrawn his Z+ category security. This development has intensified discussions within political circles.

This decision comes at a time when questions are being raised, from within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) itself, regarding Raghav Chadha's working style. Some party leaders have expressed displeasure over his performance in Parliament.

Allegations of Failing to Raise Issues in Parliament

Party leaders contend that Chadha failed to raise significant issues concerning Punjab in the Rajya Sabha. They believe that, as an MP, he should have vigorously championed the state's interests; however, this did not happen.

The Issues Sparking Resentment

According to the Punjab government, several major financial issues were not raised in Parliament, such as:

  • Outstanding Rural Development Fund (RDF) dues amounting to approximately ₹8,500 crore.
  • GST compensation losses totaling nearly ₹60,000 crore.
  • Funding-related issues concerning the National Health Mission.
  • The ₹1,600 crore aid package announced for flood relief.

All these issues are considered critical, and it was expected that they would be raised at the national level.

Reaction from Party Leaders

Leaders from Punjab stated that consistently and fearlessly raising issues that affect the public constitutes the core ethos of the party. They believe that a failure to do so erodes public trust.

Public Resentment

Resentment is particularly palpable among those affected by the floods. They argue that their grievances—specifically issues related to their hardships and compensation—were not raised in Parliament, leaving them feeling deeply disappointed.

All in all, the new security cover granted to Raghav Chadha—coupled with the questions emerging from within his own party—has rendered this entire matter even more sensitive. It remains to be seen how he responds to these criticisms in the days ahead and how he moves to consolidate his position.
