Calls the new bill anti-village

Rahul Gandhi termed the Developed India G-Ram-G Bill, which replaces MNREGA, as "anti-village and anti-state." In a post shared on social media, he wrote that this new law abolishes the rights-based and demand-driven employment guarantee. According to him, it will be controlled from Delhi, which will weaken the role of states and panchayats.

MNREGA empowered laborers

Rahul Gandhi said that MNREGA had empowered rural laborers with bargaining power. As a result, exploitation decreased, forced migration reduced, and wage rates improved. He said that this scheme led to the development of rural infrastructure and improved working conditions, which are now being undermined.

Role of MNREGA during COVID-19 pandemic

The Congress leader recalled that during the COVID-19 pandemic, MNREGA proved to be a lifeline for millions of people. When the economy came to a standstill, this scheme saved people from hunger and debt. Rahul Gandhi claimed that women benefited the most from MNREGA, and the number of workdays for women increased year after year.
