Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president and patron Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday called for unity and collective action, urging people to stand up against challenges and fight for their rights.
Addressing a party workers’ convention in Baramulla, Abdullah said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir remained concerning. He called on people to raise their voices for the restoration of the region’s special status, revoked by the central government.
Abdullah urged people to speak up for their rights and recalled his continued demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood despite facing various challenges. He stressed the need for a united effort to press the government to reconsider its decisions.
He also called for people to remain united on issues concerning communal harmony, saying collective efforts were essential for the region’s development. The National Conference leadership, he said, had continued to work towards the welfare and upliftment of the people.
The convention was organised to strengthen the National Conference’s grassroots network and mobilise party workers across Baramulla district.
Abdullah’s address focused on bringing people together around issues of rights, statehood and development, while encouraging party cadres to remain active and strengthen the organisation at the local level.
