Maharajganj: Bhojpuri music, political slogans and an enthusiastic crowd came together at the Samajwadi PDA Jan Chaupal held at the Damodari Pokhra sports ground in Nichlaul, Maharajganj, on Sunday evening.
The event, organised by Sushil Tibrewal, a former Uttar Pradesh minister and political aspirant from the 317 Siswa Assembly constituency, witnessed a strong turnout of supporters eager to catch a glimpse of Bhojpuri singing sensation Samar Singh.
The gathering brought together regional entertainment and political mobilisation, with Samar Singh’s live performance emerging as one of the evening’s biggest attractions. The venue reverberated with Bhojpuri songs, applause and slogans associated with the Samajwadi Party’s PDA outreach, creating a festive atmosphere ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Samar Singh’s popularity was evident as fans gathered around the stage and responded enthusiastically to his performance. The singer’s energetic presentation kept the audience engaged, with attendees clapping, dancing and enjoying the musical programme. His appearance also added a major entertainment draw to the political gathering, helping attract a sizeable audience to the event.
During the Jan Chaupal, Samar Singh appealed to attendees to support Sushil Tibrewal in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Tirdewal was presented at the event as a prominent Samajwadi leader and social worker associated with the Siswa constituency.
The appeal connected the evening’s entertainment programme with the event’s political objective. Supporters responded with slogans and expressions of backing for Tirdewal, while the gathering featured calls to strengthen the Samajwadi Party’s position in the 2027 electoral contest.
The event organisers projected the turnout as a sign of public enthusiasm for the programme. However, the crowd’s presence at a political gathering should not, by itself, be interpreted as a measure of electoral support across the constituency.
The political messaging at the Jan Chaupal centred on the Samajwadi Party’s PDA framework, referring to Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak communities, or backward classes, Dalits and minorities. Tibdewal called for unity among these social groups, presenting collective participation as a means of advancing social justice, representation and public welfare.
He also urged party workers and supporters to mobilise for the 2027 Assembly elections and challenge the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh. In his political criticism, Tibdewal argued that voters increasingly wanted accountability on issues such as rights, dignity, employment and development rather than relying solely on political slogans and promises.
The gathering also echoed support for Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, with attendees expressing their aspiration for the party to return to power in Uttar Pradesh and for Yadav to become chief minister again.
The Nichlaul event reflected the role of regional music and popular performers in drawing public attention to political programmes in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Bhojpuri artists enjoy a substantial following across the Purvanchal region, and their appearances can turn local gatherings into large public events that combine entertainment with political messaging.
For the Samajwadi Party’s local network, the Jan Chaupal offered an opportunity to engage supporters, promote the PDA narrative and energise workers ahead of the next Assembly election. For attendees, Samar Singh’s performance was a major attraction, while the event’s speeches focused on party unity and the political contest ahead.
The gathering concluded amid continued slogans supporting Tibdewal, the PDA framework and Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership. Whether the enthusiasm witnessed at the event translates into broader electoral momentum will become clearer as political campaigning intensifies across Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.
