New Delhi: For some time now, serious cases of children dying after consuming cough syrup have been reported in several states across the country.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear these cases. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in this regard by lawyer Vishal Tiwari, and the Supreme Court has assured to hear it tomorrow, Friday, October 10th.

The petition demands a thorough investigation of this sensitive matter by a committee of experts through the National Judicial Commission or the CBI. This PIL highlights the serious health crisis and the need for immediate attention to drug safety.

Demand for strict regulations on the sale of toxic chemicals
The petitioner has demanded that a retired Supreme Court judge oversee the entire case. Furthermore, the petitioner has demanded strict regulations on the use of the chemicals that have caused the deaths of children. These chemicals include diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.

Demand for cancellation of license of toxic syrup manufacturing company

The petition demands immediate cancellation of licenses of companies manufacturing "toxic syrups" under the guise of cough syrup. It calls for immediate closure of these companies and the strictest legal action against them. Additionally, the companies' products should be recalled to protect others. The petition also calls for the need for an effective drug recall policy.

Demand for Compensation for Victims
The petition filed in the Supreme Court also demands adequate compensation for the families of the victims, providing some solace to those affected by this tragedy.
