Srinagar: Senior IAS officer Shantmanu (AGMUT cadre, 1991 batch) was sworn in as the State Election Commissioner of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir at a formal ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar. The oath of office was administered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The appointment marks an important administrative development for the Union Territory, especially in the context of strengthening democratic institutions and electoral governance.

Shantmanu brings with him decades of administrative experience. A 1991-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, he has previously served in key positions, including Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu & Kashmir and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
His background in managing electoral processes and overseeing district-level administration is expected to contribute significantly to the functioning of the State Election Commission.
