Sandeep Pradhan is a 1990 batch IRS officer. Previously, he served as Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from 2019 to 2024.
He was currently posted as Director General of the Income Tax (Investigation) Department, Pune. He has been appointed to SEBI considering his administrative experience and financial regulatory knowledge.
As a full-time member, Sandeep Pradhan will play a key role in SEBI's regulatory, supervisory, and policy-making functions. His appointment will further strengthen the Board's efficiency and operations.
SEBI's Board is typically composed of a mixed team of officials and experts, with full-time members overseeing investor protection, capital market reforms, and compliance with financial regulations.
Experts believe that Sandeep Pradhan's appointment will strengthen SEBI's policy and administrative decisions. His experience in the Income Tax Department and SAI will provide the Board with financial and organizational perspectives.
Sandeep Pradhan's appointment to SEBI is expected to not only strengthen the board but also improve investor protection and financial regulatory practices in the capital markets.
This move also reflects the government's strategy to induct skilled and experienced administrative officers into financial institutions.
