September 2025 Bank Holidays: Banks to Remain Closed for 15 Days

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of bank holidays for September 2025. Banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days this month due to religious, cultural, and local festivals in various states. These holidays also include regular holidays on Sunday and Saturday. Customers are advised to plan their important banking work in advance so that there is no inconvenience due to holidays.

State-wise holidays and major festivals

Many important festivals are falling in the month of September, due to which banks will remain closed in different states.

3 September (Tuesday): Holiday in Ranchi due to Karma Puja.

4 September (Wednesday): Holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram due to first Onam.

5 September (Thursday): Holiday in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada on account of festivals like Eid-e-Milad, Milad-un-Nabi, Thiruvonam, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Indrajatra.

6 September (Friday): Holiday in Gangtok, Jammu, Raipur, and Srinagar on account of Indrajatra and the Gangtok holiday.

12 September (Thursday): Holiday in Jaipur, Jammu, and Srinagar on account of Friday following Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.

22 September (Monday): Holiday in Jaipur on account of Navratri Sthapana.

23 September (Tuesday): Holiday in Jaipur on account of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s Birthday.

29 September (Monday): Holiday in Agartala, Guwahati, Jaipur, and Kolkata on account of Mahasaptami and Durga Puja.

30 September (Tuesday): Holiday in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Patna, Ranchi, and Kolkata on account of Mahaashtami and Durga Puja.

Weekly holidays in the month of September will be on the following dates:

7 September: Sunday

13 September: Second Saturday

14 September: Sunday

21 September: Sunday

27 September: Fourth Saturday

28 September: Sunday

Tips for Customers

During the holidays, customers can use digital banking services such as net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, check clearance and Negotiable Instruments Act-related work will not be done during the holidays. Customers are requested to check the holiday list for their area and complete the necessary transactions in advance.
