New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a State Visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29, 2026, at the invitation of President Dr. Patrick Herminie. The visit will coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day, where the Prime Minister will attend as the Guest of Honour.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Seychelles in over a decade. His last visit to the island nation was in 2015. The upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral partnership between the two countries.

High-Level Talks on Bilateral Ties

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with President Herminie. The discussions will focus on the entire spectrum of India-Seychelles cooperation, including defence, maritime security, development partnership, and capacity building.

Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly developments in the Indian Ocean region.

Address to National Assembly and Diaspora Interaction

Prime Minister Modi will address the National Assembly of Seychelles during the visit. He will also interact with members of the Indian diaspora, highlighting their role in strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Indian Defence Participation in National Day Celebrations

A contingent of Indian defence forces, along with two Indian Navy ships, will participate in the National Day celebrations. The participation is seen as a reflection of growing maritime and defence cooperation between India and Seychelles.

Strategic Importance in Indian Ocean Region

Seychelles remains an important maritime partner for India in the Indian Ocean region. The cooperation aligns with India’s broader regional vision, including the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) framework and its commitment to the Global South.

The visit is expected to reaffirm the strong and enduring friendship between India and Seychelles and further expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including security, trade, and development partnership.
