New Delhi: Activist Sonam Wangchuk continues to remain under close medical supervision at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital as his indefinite fast enters another day. According to the latest medical bulletin issued on Tuesday morning, his vital parameters remain stable, but doctors have expressed concern over several health indicators linked to prolonged fasting.

Doctors said Wangchuk's blood sugar continues to remain below the normal range. His latest laboratory report also showed a serum potassium level of 3.2 mEq/L, prompting continuous monitoring. Medical teams are carrying out regular clinical assessments and laboratory investigations to track his condition.

The hospital said Wangchuk continues to experience mild to moderate dehydration. Doctors have also reported persistent pancytopenia, a condition involving reduced blood cell counts, including anaemia and low white blood cell levels. These findings have increased the need for constant medical observation to prevent possible complications.
According to the hospital, Wangchuk has accepted oral rehydration solution (ORS) and oral potassium supplements. However, he has continued to decline intravenous fluids and glucose despite repeated medical advice. Doctors said treatment decisions will continue to depend on his clinical condition and follow-up investigations.
Medical experts have emphasised that prolonged fasting has placed physiological stress on Wangchuk's body, making uninterrupted monitoring essential. Hospital authorities said all necessary medical care is being provided and that his condition remains under continuous evaluation.
Wangchuk is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after being shifted from the CJP protest site, where he had been observing a hunger strike in support of the ongoing agitation.
