The Top Court in its order directed all States and Union territories (UTs) to ensure the removal of stray dogs from educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands and railway stations. The Court said that all such stray dogs must be sent to dog shelters.
Supreme Court orders removal of stray dogs from public spaces
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday delivered a big verdict of removal of stray dogs from educational institutions, hospitals, bus stands, railway stations and sports stadia, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The Top Court in its order directed all States and Union territories (UTs) to ensure the removal of stray dogs from educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands and railway stations. The Court said that all such stray dogs must be sent to dog shelters.
A bench of justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria also ordered that all these stray dogs must be captured, sterilised and vaccinated.
Justice Mehta said while reading out the operative portion of the order. The detailed judgment is expected soon,
“They will not be released back in the same area since releasing them back will frustrate the very purpose of the directive of the court.”
