New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India, often revered as the guardian of the Constitution, showcased a different facet of its vibrant culture as it inaugurated the Annual Sports Events-2025 on 20th May 2025, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The event, held on the premises of the apex court, was graced by Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai, along with other esteemed judges of the Supreme Court. The ceremony marked the beginning of a spirited celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among the court’s employees.

In his inaugural address, Chief Justice Gavai emphasized the significance of sports in fostering unity, discipline, and camaraderie. He lauded the enthusiastic participation of employees, with a staggering 3,636 entries from 1,752 staff members across 13 diverse sporting events.

From high-energy athletics like the 100-meter race and relay races to strategic games like chess and carrom, the event promises a thrilling display of talent beyond the courtroom. The CJI urged participants to compete with integrity, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The Annual Sports Events serve as a unique platform to bridge hierarchies, bringing together judges, registrars, officers, and support staff in a shared pursuit of excellence. Justice Gavai highlighted how such initiatives strengthen bonds across different branches of the Registry, fostering a sense of community.

He also commended the Organising Committee for their meticulous planning and thanked volunteers and coordinators for their dedication. A poignant moment of the ceremony was the administration of the “Oath of Sportsman Spirit” by the CJI, reinforcing values of fairness, respect, and perseverance.

The event’s inclusive nature is evident in its diverse lineup, featuring cricket, football, kho-kho, badminton, table tennis, and even a mini marathon (3–5 km), ensuring something for everyone.
