Five killed as car falls into gorge in Nainital
Nainital: A tragic accident shook Nainital district on Thursday when a car plunged into a gorge on the Bhawaligaon bypass road, claiming the lives of five people from Uttar Pradesh. Rescue operations are underway as authorities investigate the cause of the crash.
The incident occurred around 2:15 PM when a Mahindra vehicle (UP 32 QU 1874) reportedly went out of control and fell into a deep gorge approximately 500 meters before Dhaila village, along the Sanatorium-Ratighat bypass road in Bhawali. Five people were traveling in the car at the time.
Victims Include Two Men, Two Women, and a Child
A coordinated relief effort involving the local police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local residents successfully retrieved all five bodies.
The victims include two men, two women, and a child. The administration continues to carry out relief and rescue operations, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
CM Dhami Offers Condolences
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep grief over the tragedy, saying, "I have received the tragic news regarding the vehicle accident in Nainital. I pray to God to grant eternal peace to the souls of the deceased and to provide strength to the bereaved families. Relief and rescue operations are underway, and I hope for the speedy recovery of the injured."
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the need for heightened road safety measures in the hilly terrain of Uttarakhand.
