Imphal: Suspected animal smugglers attacked Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Tripura's Sepahijala district on Friday evening, injuring five soldiers. The attackers also damaged a BSF vehicle. The incident occurred on the Bishalgarh-Kamthana road near the India-Bangladesh border.

According to police, BSF personnel were deployed at the Kamthana border outpost. They signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop, but it sped away and fled toward a local animal market. Bikash Das, officer-in-charge of the Bishalgarh police station, said, "BSF personnel pursued the vehicle and tried to reach the market.
An argument broke out between the soldiers and the animal smugglers, which quickly escalated into a violent clash. During this time, the smugglers attacked the soldiers and damaged their vehicle."
A case has been registered, and a search for the cattle smugglers is underway.
Five BSF personnel were injured in the attack by cattle smugglers. Police stated that a complaint has been filed and an operation is underway to arrest the accused.
In a video circulating on social media, a senior BSF officer was heard saying, "No locals came forward to intervene during the attack." Security has been increased in the area following the incident, and the police are investigating the matter.
