New Delhi: US President Donald Trump, who made a statement about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, has now clarified his statement. Trump said that the hostility between India and Pakistan was constantly increasing, and so he only helped solve the problem, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Trump clearly said, "I am not saying that I mediated; I am just talking about helping solve the problem."
Trump then also said that the matter was resolved only when they talked about trade. He said, "Last week the situation between India and Pakistan became very dangerous. Both countries suddenly started firing missiles at each other, and then we resolved everything."
Trump also added that India and Pakistan have been fighting each other for years, and he thought that he could get a compromise between the two, which he did. He says, "I did not know whether the two would reach an agreement or not; it was very difficult, and it could have really gone out of control."
According to Dynamite News correspondent, Trump also gave himself credit for the ceasefire. On May 10, when the ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan, Trump considered it his success and posted it on Truth Social. He wrote, "I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Both countries have shown intelligence." But the Indian government rejected Trump's claim.
The Indian government had clarified that when the tension with Pakistan increased, there was no discussion on the issue of trade in any talks with the US. After this, on May 11, Trump again made a statement and said, "I am proud of the strong leadership of India and Pakistan, who showed their strength, wisdom, and courage and decided that now the time has come to stop the tension, as it could have caused the death of millions of people and a lot of destruction."
This whole situation shows that Trump's statement created a lot of controversy in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, and India made it clear that it had no role in this matter.
