Chennai: One day before his much eagerly awaited movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ release, Tamil Nadu CM and actor Thalapathy Vijay pops up on Twitter and continues the siren song of ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) protesters in New Delhi. Trending on the alleged NEET paper leak issue, Vijay reiterated his request to ‘abolish’ the NEET examination and fueled furor against the detention of Opposition leaders during the protest.

Following up the protests by students in Delhi, Thalapathy Vijay extended backing of his party ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)’ during Wednesday’s statement on X. He argued, the Union government should consider the sentiment of the students and general public and ‘eliminate NEET entirely’.

Vijay further condemned the arrest of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders during the protest outside Parliament, labelling the police move ‘anti-democratic’ and ‘condemnable’.

What Did Vijay Say About NEET?

Vijay said TVK's position on NEET examination remains "uncompromising".

"In terms of NEET examination, TVK's uncompromising position is that NEET examination should be put to rest completely," he said in Tamil.

He added that the examination was bringing untold trouble to students and their families. He said his party would not make any 'false promises' in this regard and use the issue for vote bank politics.

Vijay said the permanent solution is to restore education to the State List, and if there's any constitutional obstacle, the solution would be to constitute a Special Concurrent List so that the states would have better control over education, including medical entrance.

Which Celebrities Have Been Supporting The CJP Protest?

Vijay is one of several film personalities that have shown support for the students' agitation. Actors Prakash Raj, Shabana Azmi and Riteish Deshmukh have all shown they stand with the aggrieved protesters who want justice over the accused leak of the NEET examination paper.

Vijay spoke on that when Opposition leaders demonstrate at Parliament in black clothes to bring attention to this issue.

Why Is Vijay's Statement Significant Before Jana Nayagan Release?

Vijay's speech comes a few hours before the outburst of Jana Nayagan, which is considered as his last film before focusing on politics.

The film was slated to release on January 9, 2026, but had been postponed after the certification objections were raised. It subsequently received A Adult Only certification after review by CBFC's Revising Committee.

The film has already generated huge response at the box office. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan has gathered Rs 16.78 crore advance bookings throughout the country and more than 7.37 lakh tickets were sold before its release. The vast bulk of these bookings came from the Tamil version, so the star-studded blockbuster's launch is going to be huge for Vijay.
