Udupi man’s body returns home after Sharjah murder (IANS)
Udupi: The body of Alvin Prakash Kunder, who was brutally murdered in Sharjah arrived in Karnataka's Udupi at his native place.
Kunder's body was brought nearly two months after his death to his native place amid the grief of his family. According to details cited by his family, the body had allegedly been dismembered into nine pieces and dumped in the boot of a car.
Kunder worked at Sharjah Airport for around 14 years in UAE. He was allegedly murdered in late July and his body was recovered on August 12 from the boot of his Toyota car.
His car was reportedly been abandoned in an isolated area near the Al Nahda Commercial Area in Sharjah.
His identity was later confirmed through DNA matching. Forensic and post-mortem findings revealed the extent of the alleged dismemberment.
According to the forensic report, after the death, the body had been cut into nine parts. The head, neck, torso, arms and legs had been separated, with the bones reportedly cut using a saw.
The body parts were placed in two bags and kept inside the car's boot. One green bag reportedly contained the torso, while a blue bag contained the head and parts of the arms and legs.
As per information, the post-mortem examination found two penetrating injuries on the left side of Kunder's chest, between the seventh and eighth ribs. The injuries had entered the chest cavity, where bleeding was detected.
The body was reportedly in an advanced stage of decomposition, making examination of the internal organs difficult. A blood sample reportedly showed an alcohol level of 25.77 mg/dl.
Kunder's family became concerned after he stopped responding to calls around July 20. His brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, said the family received a text message from Kunder's phone claiming that he was fine, despite the fact that he had stopped sending his usual voice messages.
Initial information suggesting that Kunder had returned to India was later questioned after passport records reportedly indicated that he remained in the UAE. His family subsequently approached authorities and sought help in tracing him.
Kunder's wife Tina, who was reportedly working as a schoolteacher in the UAE, and their Class 10 son have remained untraceable since the incident.
The family has expressed suspicion over their disappearance and urged authorities to establish their whereabouts and determine whether they had any role in Kunder's murder. However, there has been no official confirmation establishing their involvement.
CCTV footage reportedly available with Sharjah Police is said to show a woman and two men carrying two bags believed to have contained the body. Kunder's family has urged authorities to identify and arrest those responsible.
Former minister and BJP MP Kota Srinivas Poojary visited the bereaved family on Friday, paid his final respects to Kunder's body and offered his condolences.
The family had earlier approached the Udupi Superintendent of Police's office, seeking the early repatriation of Kunder's body and assistance in tracing his wife and son.
Poojary reportedly contacted Indian diplomatic authorities in Sharjah and said he was also in touch with the Union External Affairs Ministry regarding the case. He assured the family that efforts would be made to trace Tina and her son and help bring the investigation to a conclusion.
The family is now seeking an early investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kunder's death and the disappearance of his wife and son.
Sharjah authorities are continuing to investigate the murder. The motive and identities of all those allegedly involved have not yet been officially established. The alleged involvement of a Pakistani national is also being investigated, according to the information provided by the family.
