NTA has released the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key for 84 subjects.
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has uploaded the provisional answer keys for 84 subjects of the UGC NET June 2026 examination on the official portal, bringing a major update for thousands of candidates waiting to evaluate their performance. Aspirants can now check their recorded responses, compare answers and challenge any discrepancy before the final result preparation process begins.
The UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted from June 22 to June 30 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across 87 subjects. The examination is organised to assess candidates’ eligibility for academic careers, including teaching positions in universities and research opportunities.
The UGC NET score determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor recruitment and PhD admission opportunities across India. The provisional answer key allows candidates to calculate their expected marks and identify possible errors in the official responses released by NTA.
While answer keys for 84 subjects have been published, NTA has not released the provisional keys for English, Commerce and Sociology in the current update. The examination authority has constituted a specialised committee to examine complaints related to possible mistakes, technical issues or errors in the question papers of these three subjects.
NTA is expected to issue a separate notification after receiving recommendations from the expert panel. Candidates from these subjects have been advised to wait for further official updates.
Candidates who are not satisfied with any answer mentioned in the provisional key can submit objections through the official online challenge portal. The UGC NET answer key challenge facility opened on August 16, 2026, and will remain active until August 18, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
Aspirants must pay a processing fee of Rs 200 for each question they want to challenge. The payment can be completed through digital modes, including debit card, credit card and internet banking. NTA has clarified that objections sent through email, post, fax or any offline method will not be accepted.
Students need to visit the official UGC NET website and log in using their application details. After accessing the provisional answer key and recorded responses, they can select the question they want to challenge.
The candidate must provide proper justification and supporting references before submitting the objection. After completing the payment process, applicants should download and save the confirmation receipt for future use. If the same question has been challenged by multiple candidates, separate duplicate objections are not required. Any correction approved by the expert committee will automatically apply to all candidates.
The submitted challenges will undergo detailed evaluation by subject experts appointed by NTA. The panel will examine the accuracy of objections, supporting documents and academic validity before taking a final decision.
If an objection is found correct, NTA will modify the provisional answer key. The revised final answer key will then be used for calculating marks and preparing the UGC NET June 2026 results.
Candidates whose objections are accepted will receive a refund of the Rs 200 processing fee paid for that question. NTA will not send separate messages to candidates regarding accepted or rejected challenges. The final answer key will be published on the official website before the result announcement.
The UGC NET examination is one of India’s most important eligibility tests for candidates aiming for careers in higher education and research. The exam consists of two papers. Paper 1 includes 50 questions based on teaching aptitude, research methodology, reasoning ability, communication skills, reading comprehension and general awareness.
Paper 2 contains 100 subject-specific multiple-choice questions designed to test candidates’ expertise in their chosen academic field. The examination is conducted through a nationwide computer-based testing system to ensure transparency, accuracy and efficient evaluation.
CSIR UGC NET Candidates Also Get Answer Key Update
Along with UGC NET, candidates appearing for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 examination have also received access to the provisional answer key and objection facility. The CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 exam was conducted on July 17 and July 18 through CBT mode.
The examination is conducted for determining eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor positions and PhD programmes in science-related subjects. NTA has advised candidates to rely only on official notifications available on the NTA website and verified social media platforms to avoid confusion caused by fake updates.
Once the objection window closes on August 18, NTA will begin the final review process. Subject experts will analyse all valid challenges before preparing the final answer key. The final answer key will become the foundation for result calculation, scorecard preparation and determining candidates’ eligibility status.
Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official UGC NET website for updates related to results, cut-off marks, scorecards and further admission or recruitment procedures. The answer key release marks a decisive stage for thousands of aspirants who are now waiting to know their performance in one of India’s most competitive examinations for academic careers.
