U’khand: 67 roads including Rishikesh-Yamunotri highway closed; Construction work continues on Bailey bridge

Dehradun: The NH department is constructing a Bailey bridge of about 24 meter long span near Ojri on the Yamunotri highway. The department has speeded up the work when the weather is favorable.

Along with this, the work of removing debris from the mouth of the lake formed in the Yamuna river by the irrigation department in Syanachatti is going on. On June 28, a part of the Yamunotri highway was washed away in Ojri.

The process of closure of roads due to debris after rain in the state continues. 67 roads including Rishikesh-Yamunotri-National Highway are closed in the state.

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, four rural roads in Rudraprayag district, 11 rural roads including one NH in Uttarkashi, two in Nainital, 21 rural roads including one state highway in Chamoli, six rural roads in Pithoragarh, one highway and one rural in Almora, 11 rural in Bageshwar district, three rural in Pauri Garhwal, two rural in Dehradun and three rural roads in Tehri district are closed due to debris.

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, efforts are being made to open the closed roads.

Monsoon will pick up pace again in Uttarakhand from today. The Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Rudraprayag, Tehri, Bageshwar and Dehradun on July 6.

On the other hand, the process of roads being closed due to debris continues. 67 roads in the state including the Yamunotri Highway are closed.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in other districts.
