UP: 3 youths drowned in Rapti river, one body recovered; search for two continues

Gorakhpur: Three youths who went to bathe in Rapti river around 4 pm on Tuesday evening in Domingarh area drowned. The body of one youth was recovered on Wednesday morning. The other is being searched by the police and SDRF team. According to the information, Abhishek (26) son of Laxman, a resident of Hanuman Garhi in Rajghat police station area and Shailendra (19) son of Shrikant, a resident of Bamnauli in Dhanghata police station area of Sant Kabir Nagar district, went to bathe in the river with friends. They suddenly started drowning in the evening. They were searched but nothing was found. On Wednesday morning, SDRF recovered Shailendra's body. Search for Abhishek is on. However, people present on the spot alleged that if the police had taken action on time and tried to save them, they could have been found. Even after people contacted them several times, the team came and just stood at the spot. The SDRF team tried hard to find the youths with the help of divers. But they could not be found anywhere. Shailendra's body was recovered from the river on Wednesday morning. Abhishek is still being searched for. People are also angry about this incident. People have alleged that if the police had acted on time, they could have been found. People also say that the police reached the spot much later than the information was given. The police has taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. Two youths died in Barhua The second incident is from Barhua area of Gorakhpur. Actually, Shailendra of Sant Kabir Nagar and Abhishek of Gorakhpur had gone to bathe in the Rapti river with their friends. Both the youths suddenly went into deep water and got trapped in the current and drowned. On receiving the information of the incident, the police and the body of Shailendra were recovered with the help of local divers. At the same time, the NDRF and police team are still searching for Abhishek. Police team present at the spot In this case, CO Gida Ratneshwar Singh said that three youths drowned at two different places while bathing in the Rapti river on Tuesday evening. Gida police teams are present at the spot. So far only the body of one youth, Shailendra, has been recovered. The search for the remaining two youths is on. Shailendra's body has been sent for postmortem and further action is being taken.
