UP: Sharda University student commits suicide alleging harassment by teachers

The deceased was a BDS second year student in the university and recently she was seen under mental pressure.

Lucknow: A BDS second year student committed suicide by hanging herself in the girls' hostel of Sharda University located in Knowledge Park late on Saturday night.

Knowledge Park Kotwali police, which reached the spot on receiving the information, took the body in its custody and sent it for post-mortem.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the family members of the student also reached the spot. There is anger among the students about this incident.

The police have also found a suicide note from the student's room. In which she has accused a female and a male teacher of the dental department of the university of mental harassment. The deceased was a BDS second year student in the university and recently she was seen under mental pressure. As soon as the news of the student's suicide spread, there was a stir in the hostel. Angry students created a ruckus in the hostel premises late at night and raised slogans against the university administration.

Case registered against two
The students had protested in the morning. The police present on the spot somehow convinced them. There was a heated argument between the police and the protesting students. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the family in the matter. Two professors have been detained. The students demand that strict action be taken against the professors.

The students demand that the matter be investigated impartially and strict action be taken against the guilty teachers. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police as well as the forensic team reached the spot and inspected the room closely. Police officials tried to calm the situation by talking to the family members of the student.

The police have filled the Panchayatnama and sent the body for post-mortem. At the same time, the suicide note of the deceased has been taken into custody and investigation is being done. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report and investigation. At present, the police is interrogating the teachers.
