Sonbhadra: In Dhuma village under Vindhamganj police station area, late on Monday evening, as the weather suddenly changed, there was chaos in the village due to lightning falling amidst heavy thunder and rain.

In this tragic accident, 62-year-old villager Ishwar Gond died on the spot, while a woman was seriously burnt.

The weather suddenly turned bad in the village on Monday evening and rain started with heavy thunder and lightning.

Meanwhile, some villagers were sitting under a tree near the village to avoid the rain. Then lightning fell on the same tree with a loud noise. In the accident, Ishwar Gond, who was sitting there, got hit by lightning and died on the spot.

Lightning wreaked havoc on villagers
A woman sitting nearby was severely burnt in the incident, who was rushed to Duddhi Community Health Center with the help of villagers, where her condition remains critical. Many other villagers present under the tree at the time of the incident narrowly escaped, averting a major accident.

The police reached the spot and took the body in their custody and sent it for post-mortem. According to police officials, the deceased Ishwar Gond was a resident of the village and had stopped under the tree to avoid rain while returning from his farm.

The family is in a bad state crying. The son of the deceased said, father was returning from the farm like every day. Suddenly the rain started and he stopped under the tree. How did we know that this would be his last moment. We were just a short distance away, when there was a loud sound and when we looked, father had fallen.

The local administration also came into action as soon as the information of the incident was received. The Revenue Department team has been instructed to assess the damage.

Sonbhadra has been witnessing a continuous change in the weather for the last few days, due to which such incidents are increasing.

The administration has appealed to the people not to take shelter in open spaces and under trees during bad weather and possibility of lightning, so that such incidents can be avoided.

There is a wave of mourning in the village and people are consoling the family.
