Heavy rain leads to landslide in Pithoragarh
Pithoragarh: Heavy rains occurred in Tejam, Bangapani, Didihat and Dharchula of the border. Tejam received 120 mm of rain, Bangapani received 112 mm of rain. Due to rain, the Tanakpur-Tawaghat highway, Tawaghat-Lipulekh, Jauljibi-Munsiyari, Thal-Munsiyari roads are closed and the connectivity of the China border is disrupted.
The entire Munsiyari tehsil is isolated. Two-thirds of the area of Tejam and Bangapani tehsils have been cut off. Dharchula Umchia bridge and the Khetikhan footpath of Baram-Kanar footpath in Bangapani have cut off Kanar village due to the washing away of the bridge. Three houses are in danger due to the landslide.
One house has been destroyed and one house is in danger in Bansbagad of Bangapani tehsil. A drinking water line has been washed away. A massive landslide has occurred in Bangapani Kar Jarajibali village. All the rivers and streams are in spate. The water level of the Kali river has reached 0.80 meters below the danger mark. Apart from 28 roads, the footpath is also closed.
