Uttarakhand: Man shot dead in Dehradun
Dehradun: A young man was shot dead by a motorcyclist in Dehradun, at around 2:30 am on Tuesday, police said.
Police spokesperson said a complaint was lodged at the Premnagar police station by Abhishek Bartaival, stating that he and his friends were in a car at Pipal Chowk, Manduwala, when two individuals on a motorcycle approached and one of them fired a shot that hit Rohit Negi, who was sitting in the car.
Rohit was rushed to the Graphic Era Hospital, where he was declared dead. The accused, identified as Ajhar from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly fired the shot. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Premnagar police station.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had a prior acquaintance with the female friend of the deceased's friend. A heated argument ensued between them on the night of the incident, leading to the accused firing the shot in a fit of rage.
The police have formed a team to apprehend the accused and are working on the case.
