Vande Bharat Under Attack in Bihar
Bihar: A major security scare unfolded in Bihar on Monday after unidentified individuals allegedly pelted stones at the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express near Muzaffarpur. The incident reportedly took place between the Majhaulia and Khabra areas, damaging the window panes of several coaches and creating panic among passengers.
According to railway sources, at least three coaches of the semi-high-speed train suffered partial damage due to the attack. Passengers immediately alerted railway authorities and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), following which officials launched an inquiry into the matter.
Shortly after the Vande Bharat incident, two additional trains travelling on the same rail section reportedly came under attack. The Patna-Jaynagar Intercity Express and the Lichchhavi Express were also targeted by the stone-pelters.
Reports suggest that the multiple coach windows of both trains were damaged. Railway officials are now investigating whether the incidents were connected and are reviewing security arrangements along the route.
In a separate incident earlier in the day, a passenger train travelling from Sasaram to Patna caught fire at Sasaram Railway Station on the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay–Gaya rail section.
The fire reportedly broke out around 6 am, causing panic among passengers and people present on the platform. One coach was completely gutted before railway staff managed to bring the flames under control.
Officials later detached the damaged coach from the train. Preliminary findings indicate that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. Railway authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported and an investigation has been initiated.
