Weather Update: Possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rains, yellow alert issued in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rains in many parts of the country. There is a possibility of storms with strong winds in some areas of Himachal Pradesh, Western Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. An orange alert has been issued for these states.

Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Assam and Meghalaya today, for which an orange alert has also been issued. Thunderstorms are also expected in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Northwest India, the Southern Peninsula, and parts of Central India. At the same time, a heat wave is likely in most parts of West Bengal and Odisha.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR today and tomorrow (June 4 and 5). The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for both these days.

Strong winds may blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in Delhi, and there is also a possibility of lightning. Ghaziabad may also receive rain or thundershowers with strong winds. An orange alert was issued for Ghaziabad on June 4 and a yellow alert on June 5. Noida is also expected to receive storms with strong winds and lightning today, for which an orange alert has been issued.

Apart from this, Faridabad and Gurugram will remain partly cloudy today, and light rain or drizzle is possible. The Meteorological Department has not issued any special alert for these two cities.

Weather of Metropolises

On the other hand, Kolkata will remain partly cloudy today, and there is a possibility of lightning with thunder. Kolkata will remain hot and humid till June 5, but on June 6, people may get relief from the heat with moderate rain and strong winds.

Regarding this, a yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department from June 4 to 6. Moderate rain and storms are expected in Chennai on June 4 and 5, as well as lightning. A yellow alert has been issued for both days. Mumbai will be generally cloudy today, and there may be light rain or drizzle, but no alert has been issued.

What about other states

Patna will be partly cloudy today, and there is a possibility of rain, a thunderstorm, or a dust storm. A yellow alert has been issued with the possibility of lightning. Lucknow will be cloudy on June 4 and 5, and there may be light rain or thundershowers. A yellow alert has been issued for strong winds. Chandigarh is also likely to have light rain and cloudy weather, but there is no alert.

Apart from this, rain and storms are also expected in the outskirts of Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla for the next three days, for which an orange alert has been issued on June 4 and 5, where hailstorms with thunderstorms and strong winds of 40-50 kmph are likely.

There is no alert in Ranchi today, but there is a possibility of rain and storm with a yellow alert on June 5. Bhopal is expected to receive rain and lightning with a yellow alert till June 6. Jaipur has a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning from June 4 to 6.

Dehradun is also expected to receive moderate to heavy rains and strong winds for the next two days, for which a yellow alert has been issued.
