IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Over Next Few Days (Img: Pinterest)
New Delhi: The monsoon continues to remain active across several parts of the country, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in many states. Weather conditions are expected to remain unstable over the next few days as rain-bearing systems strengthen in different regions.
The IMD has advised people to stay cautious as intense rainfall may result in waterlogging, traffic disruptions and localised flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the weather department’s forecast, several states in northern, central and eastern India are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Areas including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha may witness moderate to intense showers.
Along with rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning activity have also been predicted in many parts of the country. Authorities have urged residents to follow safety guidelines, especially during stormy weather.
The weather department said changing atmospheric conditions and active monsoon systems are contributing to increased rainfall activity. Some regions may also experience strong winds and sudden weather changes.
Hilly states including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh remain under watch due to the possibility of heavy rain-related incidents such as landslides and road blockages.
State authorities have been asked to remain prepared for possible challenges caused by heavy rainfall. Disaster management teams are monitoring vulnerable areas to deal with emergencies related to flooding, waterlogging and other rain-related problems.
The IMD has advised citizens to regularly check weather updates and avoid moving into open areas during thunderstorms. People have also been urged to stay away from trees, electric poles and waterlogged locations during lightning activity.
