Kolkata: A horrific road accident has come to light in Howrah district of West Bengal. A lorry hit a bus full of passengers, killing three people and injuring at least 26 others.
The local official said that the accident took place in Bagnan area at around 7.30 am, when a collision took place between the bus and the lorry.
The accident happened due to rain
Police said that the accident took place when the bus was going from Bagnan to Shyambazar in North Kolkata. The accident occurred when the bus was trying to cross National Highway 16. Visibility may have been low due to heavy rain at that time.
He said that the lorry was going towards Kolaghat and collided with the passenger vehicle after violating traffic signals.
The minister took stock
The 29 injured people were rushed to the hospital, where three people died. Some of them were discharged after initial treatment. State Minister Arup Roy and MLA Arunabh Sen reached the accident site to take stock of the rescue operation.
