Bajrang Lal Bagra the new General Secretary of Ram Madir trust
New Delhi: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed Bajrang Lal Bagra as its new General Secretary, marking a significant leadership change.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the trust in Ayodhya on Monday. Champat Rai stepped down from the post, and Bagra has been named his successor.
Bajrang Lal Bagra has been serving as the International General Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) since February 2024.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Bagra has decades of experience in both corporate leadership and social organisations.
Originally from Rajasthan's Sikar district, he built a distinguished career in India's public sector before taking up full-time responsibilities with the VHP.
Bagra previously served as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines.
Before becoming CMD, he held key leadership positions at NALCO, including Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He also served in senior financial roles at RITES Ltd.
Within the VHP, Bagra has held several important positions, including Joint General Secretary. He has also served as the President and CEO of Ekal Abhiyan, a voluntary movement focused on education and rural development.
The Trust meeting, chaired by President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das and convened by Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri, is considered one of the most significant since the Trust was established in 2020.
Apart from accepting Rai's resignation and appointing his successor, the meeting is expected to deliberate on the SIT's findings, future administrative arrangements and possible governance reforms. Senior trustees, government representatives and legal experts are attending the meeting.
