16-Year-Old Becomes World’s Youngest Chartered Accountant (Img: LinkedIn)
New Delhi At an age when most teenagers are still deciding their future career path, Lakshmanan Meyyappan has already achieved a global milestone. The 16-year-old has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, earning the title at just 16 years and 141 days.
Meyyappan achieved the record in Dubai after completing the professional accounting qualification, marking an extraordinary achievement in the field of finance.
Meyyappan’s journey into the world of accounting began during the COVID-19 pandemic after completing his Class 10 examinations. At just 15, he started preparing for the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification and completed it within around a year.
His early exposure to accounting came from his mother, who is also an ACCA professional. During the pandemic lockdown, she introduced him to basic accounting concepts, which sparked his interest in finance.
Completing ACCA was only the beginning of Meyyappan’s academic journey. After becoming qualified in accounting, he went on to earn the CFA charter and is currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance.
Alongside his studies, he is also working as a Senior Research Analyst at Century Financial in Dubai, where he is involved in investment research, market analysis and financial decision-making.
Speaking about his Guinness World Records achievement, Meyyappan said that his goal was never to complete qualifications faster than others.
He said his focus was on understanding how finance works in the real world and developing skills that remain valuable over time. According to him, learning driven by curiosity creates more meaningful outcomes than simply chasing records.
The Guinness World Records recognition has placed Meyyappan among the youngest professionals to achieve such a qualification. His journey highlights how students can explore professional careers early and build expertise beyond traditional education routes.
While many teenagers are still planning their future careers, Meyyappan has already built a foundation in accounting, investment and financial research.
Apart from academics and finance, Meyyappan also has interests outside the professional world. In his free time, he enjoys designing and building watches. His achievement has inspired many young students who are looking at alternative career paths and professional qualifications after school.
