Why Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation Is Missing? Sonam Wangchuk’s Condition Raises Questions Over Key Agenda

Sonam Wangchuk has proposed the conditions to the government to end the hunger strike. However, the proposed conditions don't mention the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which has raised questions over the key agenda of the protest and march.

New Delhi: Sonam Wangchuk has shared conditions under which he would end the ongoing hunger strike as the CJP has proposed a “Sansad Chalo” (Parliament) march. He shared three conditions. However, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is missing from the list of conditions shared by Wangchuk.

He shared a post on X titled, “WHEN WILL I END THE FAST…!”, Wangchuk said that despite concerns regarding his health, he could continue to fast until the Parliament march ended it only under specific circumstances.

Wangchuk shared a handwritten note stating he would end his fast on 20th July if the government agrees to any one of the following conditions.

Sonam Wangchuk’s Conditions to End Hunger Strike

1. The government takes accountability for the "recent failures in the education system", including question paper leaks.
2. He and the leadership of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) are able to reach Parliament, where Members of Parliament and leaders from various political parties assure them that the issues they have raised will be taken up in Parliament.
3. If his health or other circumstances prevent him from participating in the march, MPs and leaders from different parties visit him at the hospital and provide the same assurance.

He ended the letter saying his "freedom of movement, speech, and all communication are restricted during the illegal detention".

Why Dharmendra Pradhan’s Name is Missing

Out of all the three conditions shared by Wangchuk, none of them name Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, asking for resignation. However, the first point asks the government to take accountability for the NEET paper leak and failures in the education system.

The key demand till now of the CJP protest and Wangchuk’s hunger strike was the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, but now it raises a question mark over the primary agenda of the protest.

In another post, he shared a different letter addressing the administration of Safdarjung Hospital to discharge him, as he is feeling fine and willing to join the Parliament march. He also proposed to the hospital administration that if they want, he will return once the march is over.
