Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its counter-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday by conducting coordinated searches at seven locations across the Valley in connection with a major terror conspiracy investigation. The multi-district operation brought suspected cross-border terror links, underground support networks and alleged Over Ground Worker (OGW) networks under the agency’s scrutiny.
The searches were carried out in Kulgam, Bandipora and the Sopore area of Baramulla district with assistance from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces. The operation is part of a broader national security exercise aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure, disrupting logistical channels and identifying individuals allegedly linked to hostile networks.
The latest NIA action triggered a heightened security focus in Kashmir as intelligence agencies continue their efforts to neutralise terror ecosystems, trace financial pipelines and prevent attempts by cross-border elements to revive operational networks in the region.
According to officials, NIA teams conducted simultaneous searches at seven locations across Kashmir. Two premises in Kulgam, three locations in Bandipora and two areas in Sopore were covered during the intelligence-led operation. The searches were conducted at residential premises linked to individuals under investigation. Security personnel maintained a strict perimeter around the locations to ensure operational security and prevent any disruption during the raids.
During the searches, investigators examined documents, digital devices and other possible evidence that could provide crucial leads into the alleged conspiracy. The coordinated nature of the operation highlights the intelligence-driven approach adopted by security agencies to identify terror facilitators and dismantle support structures operating at the ground level.
The NIA probe is focused on allegations of a wider terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers and local facilitators suspected of providing logistical support to infiltrated terrorists. Investigators are examining possible communication networks, financial channels, movement assistance and other forms of support that may have helped terror operatives sustain activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The case originated from FIR No. 0024/2026 registered at Police Station Zakoora in Srinagar and was later re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU. The investigation involves provisions under key national security laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.
The agency is analysing the suspected network structure, including the role of local associates, funding mechanisms and possible links with foreign-based handlers.
Jammu and Kashmir remains a critical security zone due to persistent attempts by terrorist organisations and hostile elements to maintain influence through underground networks and local support channels.
Security agencies have increasingly focused on targeting the complete terror ecosystem rather than only armed operatives. These operations involve tracing financial support systems, identifying facilitators, disrupting communication channels and preventing recruitment activities.
The NIA has conducted several high-profile investigations in the region related to terror financing, cross-border conspiracies and attacks involving militant groups.
The latest raids reflect the security establishment’s strategy of adopting a preventive approach by acting on intelligence inputs before potential threats can materialise.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding arrests, detentions or recoveries made during the searches. Officials said further information will emerge after a detailed assessment of the material collected during the operation.
