New Delhi: A tragic accident occurred on the final day of the Dubai Air Show 2025. India's indigenously developed Tejas fighter aircraft crashed during a demonstration. Wing Commander Namnash Syal died on the spot. The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed the incident and ordered a court of inquiry. This is the second major Tejas aircraft accident.
A video of the incident before the accident is going viral. In it, Namnash Syal can be seen with Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal, and Additional Secretary (Gulf) of the Ministry of External Affairs Aseem Mahajan. He had previously performed a spectacular display at the Guwahati Air Show.

The accident occurred at around 2:10 pm (local time) on Friday at Al Maktoum International Airport. The Tejas aircraft was flying in the air for a demonstration and performing several low rolls. Suddenly, the aircraft lost control and rapidly plummeted to the ground. Upon impact, there was a loud explosion and black smoke billowed. Video showed the aircraft barrel-rolling but then losing balance.

The IAF stated on social media that the Tejas aircraft crash occurred during a demonstration. The pilot succumbed to serious injuries. The IAF stated that it stands with the bereaved family and that a Court of Inquiry has been set up to investigate the accident.
Namansh Syal was a resident of Paitalkar Panchayat, Ward No. 7, Nagrota Bagwan, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. As news of his death spread, the village was plunged into mourning. Relatives, neighbors, and women gathered at his home, weeping inconsolably. A wave of grief was visible outside the house.

The martyr's body will arrive at Gaggal Airport at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Following this, the funeral will be held with state and military honors at the ancestral cremation ground in Selud. Uncle Joginder Syal said he received the news at 3 pm on Friday.
