Justice Desai served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India from 2011 to 2014, marking a stellar career dedicated to justice and fairness. Before her elevation to the apex court, she served as a judge of the Bombay High Court, earning immense respect for her deep legal insight and humane approach to complex cases.
She is renowned for her landmark judgments in cases that have reshaped India’s constitutional and social landscape, encompassing those related to criminal law, women’s rights, and governance reforms.
After she retired from the Supreme Court, Justice Desai continued to serve the nation through several key roles. Notably, she chaired the Delimitation Commission of India, a constitutional body entrusted with redrawing the boundaries of parliamentary and assembly constituencies- a task critical to maintaining democratic balance.
She also headed the Search Committee for the Lokpal, ensuring transparency and accountability in public office, reinforcing her lifelong commitment to clean governance.
