’30-Year Fort Collapsed In 30 Days’: Prashant Kishor Takes Swipe At NDA After Bankipur Lead

New Delhi: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Monday described his lead in the Bankipur Assembly bypoll as the fall of a "30-year fort", claiming the result reflected a growing demand among Bihar voters for development, quality education and employment over traditional caste-based politics.

Addressing reporters after the trends, Kishor said the outcome sent a strong political message that voters were prioritising governance and opportunities for the younger generation.

'30-year fort collapsed in just 30 days'

Taking a swipe at the BJP-led NDA, Kishor said the electoral outcome marked the end of a long-standing political stronghold. "The 30-year fort has collapsed in just 30 days. It has fallen because the people of Bihar now want governments to rise above four-five kilos of free ration and caste politics and work for their children's education and employment", Kishor said.

He warned that governments failing to address these issues could continue facing similar electoral setbacks in future elections.

Appeals to PM Modi on Bihar leadership

Kishor clarified that his political fight was not against any individual but centred on improving governance in Bihar. While acknowledging that the NDA holds the mandate to govern the state, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a capable Chief Minister focused on development.

"The BJP has the majority and the NDA will form the government. We are only making one request. The people of Bihar are requesting Prime Minister Modi to appoint a capable and virtuous person as the Chief Minister so that people can feel proud of being Bihari and our children can get quality education and employment", he added.

He also criticised Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, alleging that Bihar's progress would depend on credible and capable leadership.

'Victory belongs to the people of Bankipur'

Calling the result a mandate for change, Kishor said the verdict belonged to the people rather than to any individual or political party. "This is the victory of the people of Bankipur. It was not just an election to choose an MLA but an attempt by the people of Bihar to send a message to the BJP's central leadership."

He added that voters were seeking better education, more employment opportunities, an end to corruption and reduced migration of Bihar's youth to other states.

'Development, not political power'

Reiterating Jan Suraaj's agenda, Kishor said the party's primary objective was Bihar's development rather than political office. "We do not want to become MLAs merely to award contracts. Our sole objective is the development of Bihar", Kishor said to reporters.

He also reminded the Centre of earlier promises to improve employment opportunities and reduce migration, saying those commitments should now be fulfilled.
