New Delhi: Bihar politics heated up on Wednesday after Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav was detained by police during the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Raj Bhavan March in Patna. The protest was organised over the alleged use of an AK-47 rifle by a police personnel during a student protest in Siwan last month.
The RJD leaders and workers marched from JP Golambar towards Raj Bhavan, demanding answers from the Bihar government over the incident and raising issues related to paper leaks, unemployment and students’ concerns.
A large number of RJD supporters joined the protest led by Tejashwi Yadav, along with party MPs, MLAs and senior leaders. As the march moved forward, police stopped the protesters and detained Tejashwi Yadav.

During the detention, several RJD workers climbed onto the roof of the police vehicle carrying the opposition leader, raising slogans against the state government. Police also used water cannons to control the protesting crowd as the situation escalated.
Addressing the protesters, Tejashwi Yadav said the opposition would continue its fight for students and youth until justice was delivered.
"We will continue our fight until justice is delivered to the students. We are not afraid of jail. We will keep raising our voice against paper leaks, unemployment and irregularities in examinations," he said.
Reacting to the use of water cannons, Tejashwi alleged that the action was taken on the instructions of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. He said such measures would not stop the public from raising their voice.
The protest was linked to a July incident in Siwan where a police constable was suspended after a video allegedly showing him using an AK-47 rifle during a student protest went viral on social media.
The protest had been organised by students against alleged paper leaks. Police officials had earlier said that no one was injured in the incident and an inquiry was initiated into the matter.
The RJD has questioned how an AK-47 was used during a student demonstration and demanded accountability from the government.
RJD MP Misa Bharti also participated in the march and accused the Bihar government of failing to address the concerns of students and unemployed youth.
She questioned who authorised the use of an AK-47 during the protest and demanded strict action against those responsible. "Students and youth are angry due to repeated paper leaks and unemployment. They need solutions, not statements," RJD MP Manoj Jha said during the protest.
