BJP’s Raghav Chadha appointed chairman of Rajya Sabha Committee on Petitions

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed Chairman of the Committee on Petitions following the reconstitution of the parliamentary panel by Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan.

According to a notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the reconstituted panel came into effect from May 20, 2026.

Key Parliamentary Panel Reconstituted

The Committee on Petitions is an important parliamentary body that examines petitions and public grievances placed before the Rajya Sabha. The panel also reviews matters referred to it by the House and submits recommendations when required.

The latest reconstitution is part of the routine functioning of parliamentary committees.

Members Named to the Committee

Apart from Chadha, the newly constituted panel includes Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P.

The Rajya Sabha Secretariat confirmed the appointments through an official notification.

Separate Nomination Announced

In another development, the Secretariat also announced the nomination of Dr Menaka Guruswamy as a member of the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

The appointments are aimed at strengthening parliamentary oversight and committee-based legislative review.
