‘Elections Are Stolen’: Rahul Gandhi’s Explosive Claim After Opposition’s Big Meeting

New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the issue of alleged “vote theft” was the main focus of the INDIA bloc meeting, claiming that opposition parties believe the country’s democratic system has been weakened.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said that all opposition parties held detailed discussions and shared concerns over the electoral process. He alleged that democracy had been “attacked” and said the opposition would continue to raise the issue.

Rahul Gandhi Raises ‘Vote Theft’ Issue

Rahul Gandhi said, “The main issue is the theft of votes,” while referring to the discussions held during the INDIA bloc meeting. He alleged that the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were responsible for what he described as an attack on India’s democratic system.

He said the opposition would not remain silent and would continue its political fight on the issue.

Opposition Claims to Defend Constitution

The Congress leader said opposition parties in the INDIA bloc see themselves as collective defenders of the Constitution. He added that the alliance would work towards bringing “serious changes” in the country.

Rahul Gandhi also highlighted what he described as growing resistance among young people, saying that many youngsters believe that issues affecting democracy need to be addressed.

INDIA Bloc Discusses SIR and Election Commission Issues

The INDIA bloc meeting was held amid the ongoing political debate over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and concerns raised by opposition parties regarding the Election Commission.

During the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge outlined six demands, including transparency in electoral roll revisions, safeguards for voters, easier voter registration and voting through ballots instead of EVMs.

The opposition parties also discussed issues related to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and their future strategy on electoral matters.

The Election Commission has maintained that electoral roll revision exercises are conducted according to established legal procedures.
